On 16th and 17th April, our principal Ms. Lancy Tam, our Deputy Careers Mistress Ms. Joanna Lee, and careers teacher Mr. Dennis Chan took part in a Study Trip to universities in Macau with principals and careers teachers from other DSS schools in Hong Kong. During the two-day trip, they visited three universities in Zhuhai and Macau, namely, the United International College (UIC) (which is jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University), the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), as well as The University of Macau (UM).In addition, they also visited the Saint Paul’s School in Macau (which is famous for its e-learning efforts) our principal and teachers learnt more about education in Macau from nursery to secondary.
Throughout our visits to these universities, not only had our principal and teachers had a better understanding of the degree credits (such as archery), qualification accreditations, and admission requirements of those universities programs offered by these universities to our Hong Kong students, but they had also engaged in professional dialogues with educators from the Mainland China, Macau, and Hong Kong, including Professor Ng Ching Fai, who was formerly the President of the Hong Kong Baptist University. Together our teachers exchanged views regarding education opportunities and careers prospects for our students from Hong Kong who will soon be the 21st century leaders in our society. The two-day and one night journey, though short may it seem, was very fruitful for our principal and careers teachers. The trip gave us a lot of inspiration on the multiple pathways that our students can pursue. Seminars or talks will be held to brief our students about various options that they have.
