Reflection from S6B Law Ka Nok I was so happy to be one of the school team members to join the Bridge Competition which was organized by HKUST. In this competition, I learnt a lot such as team work, fabrication of a bridge, time management, experience sharing with other schools’ students and the application of physics. Although we spent so many nights at school to fabricate our bridge and we experienced lots of hard time, it was still worth because we won the first runner-up in the competition. This was a really good opportunity for me to learn one thing – persistence. If one persists in doing one thing, one will have a higher chance to succeed. Lastly, I would like to thank my school and my physics teacher Mr. Dik for his support and supervision in this competition. |

新界地域中學校際劍擊比賽
背景資料 新界地域中學校際劍擊比賽是由香港學界體育聯會主辦及香港劍擊 總會協辦的。是次比賽分為花劍、重劍、佩劍個人及團體比賽。本校2位學生於早前被發現在劍擊方面富有天份，2 人均有參與該項比賽，並取得好成績。 日期 2009年10月31日 及 2009年11月7日 地點 荔景體育館 相片
陳穎嫻老師的感受 我是羅定邦中學的體育老師，亦是劍擊隊的負責老師。這兩位同學十分努力練習。比賽當天，他們很早便到達比賽場地進行熱身及遵循教練的指導。他們對劍擊持著正面的態度，以及於比賽前充足的準備功夫，都令我留下很深刻的印象。在比賽中，他們也是竭盡所能，就算是落後，也不會放棄，仍然為自己打氣。因此他們在比賽中獲得好成績。本校舉行了兩班劍擊班，我希望所有成員可以以他們為榜樣，建立一個正面的態度及努力練習，於下年校際比賽中取得佳績。 |

第四屆《善辯巧言︰全港學生口語溝通大賽》比賽詳情 比賽名稱：第四屆「善言巧論：全港學生口語溝通大賽」 主辦機構：香港教育學院 比賽日期：11月 ( 初賽及決賽 ) 活動簡介 「善言巧論」是廿一世紀教育的新趨勢，舉凡校本評核、公開考試，以至大學入學面試等，無不增加口語溝通能力考核的比例。然而，學生往往缺乏面對陌生群眾的經驗，有啟齒為艱之嘆，因而未能恰切回應公開評核的要求。有鑒於此，中國語文科特推介本校學生參加「善言巧論：全港學生口語溝通大賽」。透過全港性的比賽，廣開學生的眼界，提升他們的思考、溝通和社交能力。詳情請瀏覽 http://rces.hk/comp/booklet/09-10_Oral_Competition_Sec.pdf。 本校同學獲獎項目 會考及中學文憑組經典朗讀項目小組優異獎

Outstanding Achievement in 61st Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival The 61st Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival was successfully held in December 2009. 59 students joined solo verse and prose reading events. Our school had two teams of choral speaking representing the school to compete against the others secondary schools in Hong Kong. This year, 11 S.6 students (8 girls and 3 boys) participated in the prose reading event. Mr. Crawford had recommended our S.6 students to enter the urban area categories to compete with students from other top schools in Kowloon or Hong Kong Island. With students’ endeavors and teachers’ efforts, the following students carried off a lot of prizes. Congratulations to all the prize winners! Prize Winners of Solo-Verse Speaking
The following students have also attained merits in the competition:
Choral Speaking S1A and S2A students had spent endless hours preparing for their debut performance at the 61st Speech Festival. Many of them had never participated in any public performances which added to a positive learning experience for the students. Achieving merits in such a fierce competition was an excellent opportunity to learn of different skills in their lives. Not only did they walk off the stage with a relieved smile, they walked off becoming more experienced and filled with a happiness that is to know that they had grown a little more. One of the S.1A students, Marco Ting, had written in his reflection, “Even though this time we got eighty-four marks, I am very happy because this is our first competition. This result is very satisfactory to me, and I have learnt how to respect the groups on the stage. Also, I know that when we are performing, we should not feel frightened. If I have another chance to perform again, I will practice the poem more often so that I can remember the poem easily.”
