S5 Careers Week 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the success of last years Careers Week 2016, our school\u2019s\u00a0Careers and Life Planning Education Team<\/em>\u00a0once again arranged an array of insightful career-related activities for all S5 students during the S5 Careers Week from 20th<\/sup>\u00a0to 23rd<\/sup>\u00a0March. The objectives of the whole programme were fourfold:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To encourage S5 students to reflect upon their own abilities, interests, and career goals.<\/li>\n
  2. To provide chances for them to better understand those post-secondary education choices available to them through visiting various tertiary institutes.<\/li>\n
  3. To raise their awareness towards the world of work through various visits to firms and organisations.<\/li>\n
  4. To empower them to make informed choices through setting clearer academic, career goals, and eventually lead a goal-driven life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Before this S5 Careers Week, all S5 students had already completed a Careers Interest Inventory Assessment (CII), an empirically-based quantitative assessment on career inclination launched by the Chinese University of Hong Kong based on John Holland\u2019s theory on the Six Personality Types. All S5 students were divided into six groups, namely, Realistic Group, Investigative Group, Artistic Group, Social Group, Enterprising Group, Social Group with reference to the results of the assessment.<\/p>\n

    During the week, our students paid visit to over 20 places, from governmental organisations to tertiary institutes. Students were required to complete tasks related to the English Language Module titled \u201cPost-Secondary Communication.\u201d To celebrate the success of our Careers Week last year and the 25th<\/sup>Anniversary of our school, a colourful, attractive logbook designed by our S4 student Ip Yun Sum, Kelvin was published this year. All S5 students completed a variety of thought-provoking and reflective tasks and the evidence of their 4-day experience would be useful for their individual reflection and career exploration. From the reflection\u00a0and quality work of our students, we believed that they had gained knowledge about the breadth of post-secondary education and careers opportunities available to them.<\/p>\n
