[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2885″][vc_column_text]Our\u00a0Career Counselling and Life Planning Education Team<\/strong>\u00a0and our\u00a0English Department<\/strong>\u00a0had yet brought another unique experience for our S5 students this year, with the aim to enhance our their knowledge about the breadth of post-secondary education and careers opportunities available to them. From 26th March to 29th March 2018 this year, an array of insightful career-related activities, (e.g. governmental organisations, companies, tertiary institutes) were arranged to encourage our S5 students to reflect upon their own interests and strengths, to better understand those multiple pathways including post-secondary education choices available to them, to raise their awareness towards the world of work and requirements by both the current and future workplace, and most importantly, to EMPOWER them to make INFORMED choices and lead a goal-driven life.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n
Before the Careers Week, all S5 students had already completed a\u00a0Careers Interest Inventory Assessment (CII)<\/strong>, an empirically-based quantitative assessment on career inclination launched by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, based on\u00a0John Holland’s theory on the Six Personality Types<\/strong>. All S students were then divided into six groups, namely, Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional, with reference to the results of the assessment:<\/div>\n

    This was the third year when the Careers Week was held in collaboration with our school’s English Department. Students were required to keep a\u00a0Careers Logbook\u00a0<\/strong>and complete a variety of thought-provoking and reflective\u00a0BINGO tasks<\/strong>, which would ultimately lead them to complete a summative assessment under the\u00a0English Language Module “Post-secondary Communication”<\/strong>. In addition, those records would become evidence of their experience and reference materials for their personal statements to be submitted in their applications to universities or tertiary institutes. On the last day, after an exciting\u00a0Careers Running Men Quiz Game,<\/strong>\u00a07 alumni returned and delivered an alumni sharing session<\/strong>\u00a0during our debriefing session. During which they shared about their hopes when they were S5 students, factors that they made them choose those university programmes that they were attending and advice that they had four S5 students when choosing university programmes. It was a wonderful afternoon when all current and old boys and girls gathered together in a hall that they were familiar with, sharing about aspirations. Our students also wrote down their own aspirations on our Give and Take Wishing Tree to be placed inside our Career and Life Planning Education Centre.<\/div>\n

    From May to June, students would be invited to attend\u00a0Group Counselling Sessions<\/strong>\u00a0with their class teachers.<\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    Our Career Team would like to thank all teacher leaders including S5 English Teachers and Career Teachers for their participation and support.\u00a0We would also like to thank all companies, governmental organisations and tertiary institutes for their hospitality and arrangements. It was truly another fruitful and inspiring journey for all our S5 students.<\/div>\n
