DSE Curriculum: Literature in English (S4-6)

The HKDSE Literature in English curriculum invites students to explore the depth and nuance of the English language through the immersive study of literary texts. Designed to cultivate critical thinking, analytical depth, and empathetic understanding, the elective course spans diverse literary forms, including novels, plays, and poetry across different eras and cultures. Students learn to critically analyse theme, characterisation, narrative techniques, and stylistic choices while developing articulated personal responses to literary works. 

 

Beyond the classroom, regular theatre trips are organised to allow students to enjoy the authentic exposure to the world of literature.
