Students Forge New Friendships Through Cultural Exchange – Visit from staff and students from Shunde Luodingbang Middle School
On Friday, 7 November 2025, our school was delighted to welcome a delegation of over 100 teachers and students from our sister school, Shunde Luo Ding bang Middle School. Led by Secretary Wu, Director Xi, and three accompanying teachers, the group joined our students and staff for a full day of learning and exchange activities designed to promote dialogue and deepen mutual understanding.
The day began with a simple yet warm welcome ceremony, where our Assistant Principal, Dr Law, delivered a welcoming address. Subsequently, the visiting students joined our local students in their regular classes, experiencing first-hand the learning environment of a Hong Kong classroom. Whether engaging in discussions in language lessons, solving problems in Mathematics lessons, or group activities in Integrated Humanities, students from both schools engaged wholeheartedly and interacted enthusiastically. The visiting students remarked on the vibrant classroom atmosphere, where students freely expressed their views and teachers actively encouraged questioning and critical thinking – an approach they found immensely rewarding. Our students equally appreciated the visiting students’ enthusiastic participation and willingness to share, with discussions sparking new intellectual insights for all.
During lunch, teachers and students from both schools enjoyed their meal together in the school hall in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere, with students chatting freely about their school lives, study habits, and hobbies, successfully forging new friendships.
The afternoon brought a highlight of the day: a joint talent show in the school hall. The diverse programme included dance, solo singing, piano performances, martial arts demonstrations, and drama sketches, all of which brilliantly showcased their artistic talents and youthful vitality. The audience responded with great enthusiasm, filling the hall with waves of applause. The event was not only a platform for students to display confidence and creativity but also an opportunity to cultivate mutual respect and appreciation for artistic styles from different cultural backgrounds.
Reflecting on the day, many students shared that the exchange had broadened their horizons and taught them how to communicate and build friendships with peers from a different region. As one of our students remarked, “Today’s exchange made me realise that learning extends far beyond textbook knowledge. More importantly, it’s about learning to respect, to understand, and to cooperate through interaction.”
This visit by our sister school has not only strengthened the bond between our two institutions but has also provided our students with an invaluable opportunity for learning and personal growth. Our school remains committed to actively expanding collaboration and exchanges with our sister schools, providing students with more diverse and expansive learning platforms to nurture them into future citizens with global perspectives and cultural competence.
