English Literature Activity: The Nutcracker Performance
On Saturday, 13 December, a group of literature lovers waltzed into the Hong Kong Cultural Centre to enjoy the festive The Nutcracker ballet performance. Not only did the students enjoy watching the ballerinas’ professional storytelling on the stage, but they were also captivated by the brilliant notes played by the live orchestra. Below are some of our students’ thoughts:
“The theatre certainly did a great job on the atmosphere of the show by having a huge stage that was complemented by the professional live orchestra, bringing the story to life with the ballerinas. Personally, I loved the show itself as it was also my first time watching a ballet!” – 5T Chau Sing Hong
“I absolutely loved the performance. I was especially impressed by the magical costumes and the impressive sets, which made the story feel real. The ballet dancers told the story so elegantly without using any words. My favourite part was when the big dim sum steamer and the little dim sums came out. I thought it was very unique, and I also loved how this version incorporates Hong Kong into the classic tale. Overall, I really enjoyed this performance, and I hope I can go to similar events again in the future.” – 3A Cheung Mimzy Hoi Ching
“The performance of The Nutcracker by the Hong Kong Ballet created a wonderful, festive atmosphere in the theatre. The vibrant set design and delicate costumes brought a real sense of magic to the stage. The dancers’ movements brought each character to life with emotion and energy. The show felt like a beautiful, wintry dream.” – 5T Yang Maggie
