I graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with biology as my major and chemistry as my minor. Biology is a subject incorporating a huge amount of information of living organisms. It is a broad field embracing many different disciplines which include the study of creatures from virus to human. Fundamental to the study of life is unfolding biological organization at its many levels, from molecular architecture to ecosystem structure. However, it is not a subject that merely involves memorization of numerous unrelated facts. It requires understanding and application of biological principles and processes, analytical and critical thinking of biology-related issues, as well as scientific inquiry of biology-related problems.
Teaching is a worthwhile and rewarding career that I would dedicate myself to pursue. I aim to cultivate intelligence, flexibility and perseverance in my students so that they will be well prepared for the challenges at this time of rapid changes. However, education is not just a stepping stone to personal success. My vision is to help our future generation to develop, alongside academic excellence, compassion and a commitment to care and to serve so that they will be ready for becoming future leaders in the community. I commit myself to an education that fully develops the potentials of aspiring young people by emphasizing the development of independent thinking skills of the students and thus become autonomous learners.
