Who am I?
Hello everyone! I’m Joanna Lo. That’s right, the original ‘JLO’. I am a very spontaneous person. Some people say it is a good thing, others disagree. I personally think it is one of my outstanding characteristics. This part of me allows me to live my life to the fullest with no regrets. I would hate to be one of those people who keep asking themselves ‘What if?’
A new adventure
I was born and raised in the ‘Big Apple’. Right now, I am beginning my new expedition. On the spur of the moment, I decided to leave my job, family and friends back in New York and make my move to Hong Kong. I have to say, it does take some time getting used to the weather, the cultural differences, lack of spacious housing, and most of all, lack of outdoor activities!!! Being an adventurous girl, I enjoy bungee jumping, cliff diving, thrilling roller coaster rides and hope to go sky diving someday. At this point, I shall settle for a war game. Some people say I am crazy and that I need to act more like a girl (which I think I do), but I say, “Work hard, play harder.”
The word ‘teacher’ for most people is defined as someone who is responsible for informing or teaching someone something. But not everyone would have the same image of a teacher. My thoughts of what a teacher should be were formed from my own life experiences. I believe a teacher should listen to, care for, understand, encourage, inspire and help their students be the best they can be. Teaching is not a profession, it is a passion. With this passion and my hopes of being a great teacher, I will do my best to inspire my students and help them grasp their dreams.
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
– William Arthur Ward
